Maybe I should give some background- My sonata is a lease. It goes out in august, and due to not being in the most finically stable position, my grandfather decided he wanted to get an Acadia Denali, or new Explorer Sport, so in the meantime, he has promised to pass his current truck down to me. So him being at his hunting camp this weekend, and my uncle picking him up so he doesn't have to drive, he has allowed me to use his truck over the weekend so I could be sure weather or not I want it, or should we sell it to carmax and just give me the money to buy a car. Today, I picked it up from his house and learned that he is the most Outlaw Country man I know, and his truck fits him to a T. OK- Let's start with the keyring. The key is worn, but not battered, and has an old school Yuingling keychain that probably dates back to his Firebird Formula. Anyway, I unlock the truck, get in after opening the big ass meaty door handle and prop my self up in the worn leather seat, with a slight gangster lean due to his bad back. I put the key in and start her up. The high mileage, hard working big six under the hood quickly started up and was smooth as it was off the showroom floor. looking for some music, I switched on the radio and heard the soothing sound of Willie Nelson's rendition of "Georgia on my Mind", opening the huge glovebox, which felt like a mile a way from me compared to in my sonata, i found dozens of outlaw country classics, David Allen Coe, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams (AND Hank 3!), Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, you name it, it was here. Settling on Willie Nelson, and putting on the "Naked Willie" album release party ball cap that was sitting on the passenger seat, I looked through the tinted back window through his NRA stickers, pulled the big column gear selector to reverse and backed out of the driveway.
Part 2 of the review, including pics of the truck, coming soon!
But first- Guess the truck. Winner gets a virtual pat on the back and cookie.
